Does anyone know the science behind why we crave these videos and even smells?

I remember this guy that used to serve time in prison for stealing a car. Anyway he was on a cleaning crew and of course cleaning products were tightly controlled. One day this new rookie prison guard was assigned to his cleaning crew. He took a chance and asked the new guard permission to get a couple bottles of pine sol, he said his cell smells awful and needs to be disinfected. To his shocking surprise, the guard agreed and allowed him to take the two bottles of Pine-Sol. He knew this was never going to happen again. I didn’t ask details on how they used it to get high on the stuff but he did say him and his cell mate got messed up using it. He said it was like a euphoria high. They did eventually use the last of it to disinfect their jail cell. When a supervisor was walking by he smelled the strong odor of pine sol common from this particular cell. You would be surprised on how many cleaning products nowadays are abused. I remember when tide first came out with those tide pods for washing clothes. Well, there was some chemical in it that teenagers were using it to get high on. It sounds crazy.. Luckily, they found a way to dispose of the two plastic bottles. They tossed and turned their jail cell and found nothing. They said when they came back from lunch, they thought someone disinfected their jail cell. They played stupid, of course. The rookie guard was asked about it and denied everything probably not wanting to get in trouble. He did say it was the best weekend that they had in years.
